Udemy for Business is used in my organisation mainly to keep all stakeholders updated about latest tech stack and how the knowledge can be leveraged to build better products. For new employees, Udemy for Business is a great place to learn about tech stack used by the company and for experienced folks, it provides insights what enable product managers and engineers to build better and more reliable product which meets evolving needs of users. Udemy for Business also helps us to learn how to teach the performance of a product or initiative and iteratively improve it over time to enhance user experience and contribute positively to the company
  • Udemy for Business is my first preference for Understanding basic concepts of latest technology
  • Udemy for Business provides curated content for diverse use cases across technology, business, strategy, etc. It helps improve the process of decision making
  • As a product manager, I prefer permanent solutions over quick fixes. Referring to Udemy for Business courses on product management has helped me greatly to improve my product
  • Stakeholder management is an important aspect of any business and there are amazing content in Udemy for Business that helps master this art
  • The self learning part of assignments that I see in Udemy for Business are oversimplified and does not reflect actual complex scenarios that we see in major corporate offices. While it's easier to understand a course if the assignment is simple, Udemy for Business needs to have courses on more complex topics
  • The content is generic in nature and is not tailored at an individual or professional level. For example, If I'm a product manager for pricing, I will find ton on courses which explains about existing pricing strategies. This is the basic thing and what i'm looking for is something that goes beyond these basic concepts
  • there are too many courses that explains the same concept with almost 90% overlap. Finding the right content takes lot of time. It would be great if Udemy for Business could tell me what is the percentage overlap with the courses that I have already taken and recommend me better courses based on my needs
Udemy for Business is well suited if you are stepping into a new domain or a new role as Udemy for Business has a large repository of amazing content will help you get complete context of a domain or role and will help you greatly for first few months (or even a year).
Additionally, if you are are looking for new technologies or software for your company/team and need to get a detailed understanding about whether it will be a right fit, Udemy for Business is the place to go as you will find detailed information about all softwares, technologies and you will also know if it will be the best fit for your use case.
However Udemy for Business is not the right place if you well established in your domain or role as there is not enough content in Udemy for Business that will help you navigate complex requirements/ use cases that you will encounter at higher designations. Morever, if you don't have enough free time, you will not prefer Udemy for Business as you will waste lot of time to find the right content.

  • Udemy for Business helped me greatly to get a grasp of basic concepts when I switched to a new domain (both business and technology standpoint) and this greatly improved my overall understanding about my role
  • Different courses provides different views on the same topic. Udemy for Business provides diverse views on same concept and this will help you get exposure to multiple strategies and understand what suites you the best
  • Once you grasp the basic and intermediate concepts, Udemy for Business is not a great place to learn complex concepts and the relevant content is extremely limited and generic in nature which means it's not personalized to your use case
I would put Udemy for Business above Coursera and Udacity but below LinkedIn Learning as LinkedIn Learning provides better personalization experience. I'm assuming this is because LinkedIn has data about my profession and certifications and hence they are able to recommend content that is more relevant to me and would help me grow in my domain. However, when it comes to content, Udemy for Business is superior to Linkedin Learning as it provides more detailed videos while Linkedin Learning videos are usually shorter

As a software development organization, we have a constant need to ensure our developers have opportunities to keep their skills up to date. Not only do we need to ensure they can expand on their existing skills, but they also need to have opportunities to learn about new skills and technologies that are not yet impactful to our business, but will be. Udemy for Business offers us the opportunity to address these needs by providing such a wide and diverse catalog of learning content.
  • Massive Course Catalog - Udemy has a tremendous selection of courses, enabling my reports to find pretty much any course they might be interested in.
  • Multi-platform streaming - Udemy for Business offers apps across several different platforms, enabling my reports to be able to learn in the way they want to, at a time that is convenient for them.
  • Learning Management - Udemy for Business offers me data and metrics on how my employees are engaging with their learning.
  • Curation - To be honest, I'm not sure to what level of curation Udemy for Business does behind the scenes, and it's rarely a problem, but a little more transparency into how these trainers have been vetted before getting to their "market place" would be good.
  • Guided Learning Plans - Udemy for Business could act as an advisory role to suggest curricula to businesses in a particular domain - enabling exposure to new skills before the company even knows they need them.
  • Course Materials - In the courses I've watched thus far, the trainers often provide additional materials as embedded links in the notes. This "just in time" materials is a good approach, but some of us would like to do a bulk download before beginning the class.
Udemy for Business is a perfect solution for lower-cost training that enables your team to learn and explore new skills without having to pay the literal $10's of thousands of dollars to engage an external trainer for remote or in-person training.

However, Udemy is not as good for situations where your reports may feel that they will have lots of questions to be answered. Udemy for Business's responsiveness to questions is good, but can never be as good as real-time questions and feedback.
  • Udemy for Business easily pays for itself compared to traditional training solutions. Given the breadth of courses it offers, it will make up its costs in short order.
  • My team is more engaged with learning, now having a large and "freely" available library of course content. This enables them to explore and learn at their own pace, which is a huge benefit to the company - they are always learning things that could be applicable in the future.
  • As I mentioned before, I'd caution against Udemy for Business in settings where the students will need to ask a lot of question or get some immediate feedback. It can be challenging for students approaching a new skill to do so without real-time support.
We selected Udemy for Business because it offered such an enormous variety of courses that are relevant to software development. While Pluralsight offers a large selection too, it's often not as specific on a given topic as Udemy for Business is, and moreover, the courses on Pluralsight tend to get outdated faster. Udemy for Business often updates "old" classes and makes them available to the learners as a free upgrade in the class.
I haven't had to contact Udemy for Business for support reasons. I gave a 10 here because of it's availability across numerous platforms: Web, Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, even smart-tv apps make it trivially convenient to do some learning wherever you are. This helps my reports engage better with their learning, especially if they prefer to defer the training until the couch at home after work. It just makes for great user experience.
